the graphics shown on the left were illustrated or re-illustrated by me for use in publication, print, and presentations. they do not contain accurate data points as they were made specifically to be an approximation of data for use as graphically consistent images in company materials. the graphics were created with regard to company design guidelines, including color scheme, typefaces, and spacing. some of these pieces were assigned to me as data graphics that did not fit the corporate style, or out-of-date illustrations for me to redrawn as closely as possible while adhering to company design guidelines. others were assigned to me to be completely redone however i saw fit as long as they followed the guidelines and remained consistent with the other illustrations and graphics. i also assisted with presentation and program design for conferences, but the majority of those were for internal use only, and therefore not public facing.
my thesis project is a semi-bilingual cultural illustrated story- and cookbook that contains family recipes from foods my parents made for me growing up. it also contains personal anecdotes, bits of history, and researched opinions.
each dish has its own introduction and recipe page, along with a full page illustration of the dish, and finally, an "amorphous" page, which contains all the extra information that is presented in this book.
this book is unique in its design and construction in that the illustrations are printed on a translucent vellum so that the reader can choose the degree in which they wish to interact with the amorphous pages while preserving its functionality as a cookbook (translucency is not shown in the flipbook version to the left). i also designed the english typeface used in the title specifically for this book to match with the chinese typeface i was using. finally, it has a matching coloring book for those who are interested.

this is a brand design package that centers around one singular object: a strawberry. the concept is then expanded into a museum exhibit, which is titled strawberry bliss, the museum of aesthetic.
the package begins with the brainstorming and iteration stage, and progresses into finalized logo design, lockups, and mockups, color palette and style sheet, then advertisements and posters.
this package is an example of the kind of brand design i enjoy doing, and showcases my creative process every step of the way, from researched images to sketches to final product.

for this piece, i chose to spin a narrative that tells of some of the food i've eaten in the past few years.
done as a "zine" (8 pages & 1 poster all folded from 1 sheet of paper) in a detailed lineart style with mostly flat colors ad a hint of highlight, this piece was mouthwatering to create.
through the use of a limited color palette, the illustrations feel very cohesive, and allow for lineart details to really shine through.
the back panel poster was given more detail in color of lineart and highlights/shadows due to the size of it compared to each individual page.
for the zine, the bottom left panel is the back cover, the bottom middle panel is the front cover, and all the other spreads are inside spreads. the top 2 spreads are upside down in this view due to the way zines are folded and cut to be put together.

for this piece, i redesigned the packaging for a local ice cream shop per an assignment prompt. i was given an adjective for each flavor, and decided to include a gingerbread cookie as a unifying factor across the flavors despite the different colors and tones .
i opted to use a slightly more limited color palette than i normally would, to give the design a more low-key and minimal look.

this piece is an editorial magazine o food waste, which has always been an important topic to me, and one that i hope to expand on further with future projects.
i did a lot of research on this topic, and sourced articles, quotes, interviews, and images for the magazine as a whole. in order to correct any grammar or spelling issues and edit the lengths of the articles, i copy edited all of the text that went into this magazine.
in order to keep the entire magazine cohesive, i created the illustrations myself using procreate, using the same lineart and coloring style for every graphic. since some of the images i found weren't of the highest quality and therefore ruined the continuity of the piece, i took them into illustrator and image traced at the highest quality, thus giving them all the same visual style.

this is a type specimens featuring the typeface vendetta.
i love making accordion books as i feel that it challenges my design language in terms of making content legible on the spreads being looked at while flowing continuously to the spreads following.
included in this type specimen are quotes, definitions, anatomical diagrams, history, and displays all relating to the typeface itself, or inspiration behind the creation of the typeface.
this was one of my favorite projects to make, and i find it extremely satisfying t look at. i also made a geometric graphic illustration for the back of the book, which unfortunately is not pictured in the slider to the left. (please also note that the first and last page have a low opacity color block simply used as a placeholder and therefore has no design elements and would not be there on the physical book.)

this piece is an introduction into the video game world of "genshin impact," by hoyoverse. the game follows the player on their journey across the fictional land of teyvat to find their lost sibling, meeting many incredible individuals along the way.
this is a game i personally love , with beautiful graphics and a detailed storyline. this project has 2 pieces that include an accordion book and 2 posters.
the accordion book is 12 pages front and back, with the front exhibiting the beautiful graphics in the game, and the back showing a night sky with descriptions of the characters. the posters are two different design versions (literal and figurative) of the same information for introducing the game.
this piece was made in 2022 and the game has expanded since then, with the addition of many new characters, so the book is not entirely up to date.
unfortunately, my accordion book file was corrupted and i no longer have it, so the book i am showing was compiled of the few pngs i had left, and are much more saturated than i originally intended. as a result, please note that this is not 100% visually correct to my original design.

this piece s a cover redesign for one of my favorite books, "son of war, daughter of chaos," by janette rallison.
rooted in egyptian mythology, the storyline follows aislynn in her journey of discovering her heritage and what it means for her in her past, present, and future as she faces various plot twists, unforeseen dangers, and "the enemy."
i was inspired by the original book design in featuring aislynn on the cover. i chose to incorporate scarabs as a background element due to their importance to the storyline.
due to the nature of this piece, the typography was done in procreate, using the typeface palatino, along with my own embellishing.
the left features a mockup image of what the cover might look like if it was used as a real book cover.

in this piece, i explored the cognitive connection between physically writing or typing out text and memory/learning, hence the name "letters & learning."
using a variety of type, illustration, and hand lettering. i wanted to show the way the mind works when interacting with text. the main typefaces used throughout this piece were avenir book and american typewriter, due to the research i conducted on which typefaces were more receptive memory, but i also included a list of typefaces that are well known to assist in memory and retention, since it was also meant to be an exploration of typography.
using a limited color palette ad a looping line to guide the eye, i tried to keep this piece flowing as smoothly as possible, incorporating my research into all the text and images used.
i also created all of the graphics used in this piece by first sketching/drawing in procreate, and then vectorizing and coloring in adobe illustrator, before taking everything into adobe indesign to put together. the hand letter was also done in procreate, but not vectorized.
i also created a poster to go along with the book. while the first one shown on the left is the final, complete poster, i initially came up with 4 iterations, and have shown all 4 in the flipbook. ultimately i chose the first one to expand on and complete, due to the color scheme matching the book better, and the flow of information.

this illustrative accordion book is a deep dive into the brand identity of mujirushi ryohin, more commonly known as "muji." since the name of the brand quite literally means "no brand, quality goods," the ideation for this piece was a little tricky, especially considering the core concept was to showcase the branding.
muji lets its products speak for themselves, so that's what i decided to do as well. creating simple illustrations of some of their products in procreate, idecided to go with a more vibrant color palette to how that any level of creativity could be achieved withany of their products.
